This mug of chocolate cake is delicious with or without the glorious toppings. If you want a quick and easy chocolate mug cake recipe, you can omit the toppings. However, if you're looking to take your moist mug cake to another level, take the time to make the chocolate glaze and whipped cream topping.
Low-Carb Chocolate Cake in a Mug
This recipe is based off of my favorite traditional, non-keto mug cake. I swapped out the flours and other ingredients to make the chocolate mug cake low-carb and keto friendly.
Once you have a low-carb chocolate cake in a mug recipe that you love, it's excellent to use as a base in other recipes.

Low carb chocolate mug cake directions
Using a microwave-safe mug that's at least 8 ounces, mix together the almond flour, coconut flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and Swerve until well combined.
Add the sour cream, egg, milk, and vanilla and stir until smooth.
Microwave for one minute and thirty seconds or until the top of the mug cake is set.
In the meantime, prepare the glaze by mixing together the powdered Swerve, cocoa powder, and water or milk substitute.
Once the mug cake is ready, top with whipped cream and drizzle with the chocolate glaze.
Allow the mug cake to cool before digging in. Don't leave your fork in the mug cake while it cools. The fork gets extremely hot and is like a hot poker if you do so!
Enjoy your sugar-free mug cake for one! Savor each rich and tasty bite.
Although this chocolate cake is easy, it's also enough work to deter you from making a second. Unless you plan to share, there's no reason to make a larger cake than the perfect portion served in a mug.
I don't know about you, but if I know there's a large cake in my kitchen, I'm probably going back for a second or third slice. But, if I make a cake in a mug, my brain realizes I'm satisfied enough to not put in the effort for a second serving.
